Position Statement

RACHEL, NEVADA -- The Groom Lake Proving Ground in Nevada, also called
Dreamland, S-4, and Area 51, lies about 80 miles north northwest of Las Vegas,
Nevada, beside the little town of Rachel. It is part of Nellis Base of the U.S.
Air Force.

This base is notorious among the parapsychological crowd in its testing of
strange aircraft and counter-measure weaponry. This crowd enjoys visiting the
area with thermos, ice chest and lawn chairs, awaiting sight of what they
believe are extra-terrestrial aircraft, captured by the United States
government and under air control of military personnel and government
contractors.

In fact, the entire area has been posted, use of deadly force if necessary to
maintain security. Sightseers have reported assault by military aircraft,
detainment by private, contracted security personnel and arrest by the local
Sheriff.

Scientists are not concerned with the plight of benighted sightseers invading a
secured government area. In fact, we applaud that security.
Radical anti-science individuals have attacked us and our laboratories. We
applaud any means to stop these individuals so that we may work unmolested.
Instead, our concern lies with allegations of back-engineering of alien
technology and particularly, use of unearthly elements, possibly not benign, by
a fellow scientist, Bob Lazar.

Mr. Lazar reports that he has observed evidence of use of unearthly elements to
power and propel aircraft of extra-terrestrial origin.
These aircraft experiments, as reported by Mr. Lazar, came during possible
joint-projects to allow our government to copy the extra-terrestrial
transportation. In some cases, Mr. Lazar reported the government may have
employed the extra-terrestrials themselves as part of the labor force in the
projects.

We understand the need for shielding these projects from the ignorant eyes of
the public, but urge the military to consider offering for public examination
by scientists, with security clearance and restrictions, these alien elements
so that we may ensure their safety in nature, with special regard to endangered
animal species.

We would agree in advance to use of any means necessary to provide security to
protect these elements, including use of deadly force against United States
citizens.

We hope for continued lines of communication between scientists and government,
for our greatest scientific achievements could not have been without government
guidance and funds.
